Smart cars refer to “human-friendly cars” that support safe driving on the road and provide a variety of convenience features and services for drivers and passengers.
They will eventually evolve into an autonomous vehicle through convergence with the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. It is an up-and-coming future high-tech industry where numerous technologies are converged.
Smart cars enable not only safe and convenient driving but also "Eco-Driving." In addition, they can maximize the energy use efficiency of electric or hydrogen vehicles based on optimal driving patterns derived by analyzing and judging numerous factors such as road conditions, weather, and driver tendencies.
Smart cars require numerous technologies such as machinery, electricity, electronics, materials, chemistry, and energy. Therefore, new technologies such as machine learning (artificial intelligence), big data, IoT, human interface, and emotional engineering will converge. At the same time, smart cars will be physically linked with many smart machines such as robots and drones. Therefore, the Department of Smart Automobiles will nurture creative and practical talents who will lead the future automobile industry based on their programming skills.
