Introduction

The department was created in 2000 as the Animation Major within the Department of Arts.

It was reorganized into the Department of Film and Animation in 2007 and later restructured into the current Department of Digital Animation in 2016. Our unchanging educational goal is to nurture convergent talents in animation who possess creative thinking and artistic expression in a rapidly changing visual media environment.

Students can choose to specialize in digital animation according to their career paths and complete the convergent curriculum offered by SCH Media Labs to earn various dual degrees.

The main curriculum includes scenario writing, character design, and 2D/3D animation, structured in stages from basic to advanced levels.

We continuously run excellent extracurricular programs and hold special lectures introducing new industry issues every year to ensure students have practical skills and professional insights.

Our 20-year tradition, the “Workshop” creative animation program, involves students and instructors working in teams to produce animation from planning to post-production, with screenings in theaters.

Our biggest event, “ShAniFest,” held every fall, features individual or team projects planned and produced by students. It is a festival where everyone in the department participates and awards are given to outstanding works.

During the event, professional seminars and job fairs involving our alumni are also held, making “ShAniFest” both a reunion and an academic event. The Department of Digital Animation strives to provide the best education to help students aspiring to be visual artists get closer to their dreams.
