Introduction

The Department of Display Advanced Materials Engineering studies the properties of materials, develops new materials, and studies fields that utilize these materials. Materials are the basis for all industries, and the development of new materials has enabled the current dazzling scientific advances in the IT, information display, and space industries. As such, materials play a pivotal role given that the development of advanced materials with new functions must precede in order for all industries to develop. The Display Advanced Materials Engineering Department provides a curriculum where students learn to identify the crystal structure and microstructure of materials that make up materials such as metal materials, ceramic materials, electronic materials, semiconductor materials, and display materials, and conduct research on mechanical, electrical, optical, magnetic and thermal properties of these materials to be able to take product manufacturing and new materials development tasks. Therefore, the purpose of the undergraduate program is to nurture students to play an important role in relevant business or academic circles by teaching a wide range of basic and professional knowledge on all materials and developing practical competency through various experiments.

Educational Objectives
  1. 1Cultivate sound democratic citizens with the right values and social ethics based on the Soonchunhyang spirit of love for humanity
  2. 2Foster engineers with practical and step-by-step knowledge of materials engineering
  3. 3Nurture professional engineers who are willing to serve society
  4. 4Nurture talents in students who can play a role in developing local medical engineering-related industries through industry-university-integrated medical material education in the medical engineering and medical information industry
Related Certifications

Ceramic engineer, metal engineer, thermal manager, non-destructive inspector, high-pressure gas engineer, welding engineer, high-pressure gas engineer, quality control engineer

Career path

Since graduates will have expertise in material development and application, they can expand into fields such as information display, information communication, automotive, shipbuilding, and areas pertaining to the environment. After completing the new material development specialty course, they can enter the research and development field such as the national and public research institutes. In addition, students with a double major in medical engineering can land a job in the medical industry. Since the development of new materials that will lead the 21st century is inevitably required, the job opportunity for our graduates is wide open.
