Leading Medical Software and Hardware
Medical devices that detect, diagnose, treat, and analyze diseases are now ubiquitous, and hospitals and medical institutions use OCS (Order Communication System), EMR (Electronic Medical Record System), and PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), which computerize patient
information, medical records, and medical images. In addition, remote-medical services and Electronic Health Records (EHR) that manage personal health information at the national level have been introduced.
With our foresight that the rapid expansion of the medical IT industry
accelerate further, Soonchunhyang University established the Department of Medical IT Engineering in 2007 for the first time in Korea to nurture professionals needed in the field of hospital information system and medical device development, based on the medical service experience
accumulated over the past 35 years.
Unlike the cookie-cutter education provided by many IT departments, we systematically and intensively educate only the necessary knowledge for the medical IT industry. We foster highly-skilled students for immediate employment in the healthcare industry by making full use of our excellent educational infrastructure and assets such as medical IT specialists, state-of-the-art educational facilities and equipment, internships, and on-the-job training at 4 affiliated hospitals Soonchunhyang (Seoul, Bucheon, Cheonan, Gumi).
The department aims to nurture medical software and hardware specialists with an outstanding competitive edge in the specialized field where medical and IT converge to lead the future medical industry.
