The Path of Technology That Will Lead The Future Industrial Society in the 21st Century
The Department of Information Security Engineering was established in 2001, the first undergraduate course of its kind in Korea. And it consists of cryptography, network, and computer technology fields. The curriculum covers major subjects such as Internet security, hacking and virus
response technology, e-commerce security technology, and operating system security. This department studies and provides lectures on information protection issues for all information systems and information communication systems in e-commerce and national key communication networks.
The Department of Information Security Engineering has attracted on average an annual 400 million won for two years since 2001 from the Ministry of Information and Communication's "facility equipment support project for information and communication-related-department." With the subsidy, we
completed the construction of two multimedia labs, a logic circuit lab, and an information security training center in 2001. Although the department is new, its educational space, education and laboratory equipment are fully prepared. In 2001, it was selected for the Ministry of Information
and Communication's faculty training project and invited adjunct professors from a variety of industries. We also provide more structured engineering education through the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK).
Since the master's and doctoral course in information security at the general graduate school and the master's course in information security at the Graduate School of Industrial Information have been operated since 2001 and 2000, respectively, our students can get advice and guidance from
experienced people in the department after graduation and and assistance for securing a job.
There is a growing demand for data security professionals to support laws such as the 1999 Electronic Signature Act, which legally guarantees the validity of electronic documents; the 1999 Basic Act on Electronic Transactions, which legally underpins electronic transactions; and the 2001
Information and Communication Infrastructure Protection Act, which aims to protect national public institutions' information and communication infrastructure. The department has a very bright future in that the enforcement of various information protection laws is expected to increase the
demand for experts in the information security field, and it instructs students to acquire knowledge on cutting-edge technology in the information society.
In particular, our students have the opportunity to receive financial support from the Ministry of Information and Communication's "information production excellent club development project" and the master's and doctoral program support project at famous foreign universities. The department

With the increasing importance of information sharing and the advent of internet-based information services, demands for confidentiality, integrity, authenticity, and availability of information are increasing at the social and national levels. The Department of Information Security aims to nurture talents in the field of information security through theoretical and practical skills by researching and providing education on the protection of information and communications networks and computers from various attacks and threats such as information leakage, wiretapping, forgery, and falsification, the protection of the information system from electronic infringements such as hacking and viruses, and secure and reliable electronic transactions of personal and transactional information.
